As often happens in these horrific cases, we have hit a trouble spot. Champ’s pcv had been holding around 20 since his blood transfusion (23 right after) on Wed. As you have seen, he’s been able to raise his head & was eating chicken, rice & eggs, no interest in dog food. This afternoon his pcv has dropped to 12 & he would not eat his last meal. Champ is being prepared for another transfusion & of course we will keep you posted. He’s in such poor condition that a setback is not unexpected. We just hope he is strong enough to keep fighting! 💙💎💪🏻😥💔🙏 Please again, rally for Champ!!!! He needs you all. #rdrnycchampmatters #dogsofinstagram #rescuedogsrocknyc #rdrnyc #betheirvoice #adoptdontshop #adoptisthenewshop #adopt #love #dogs #rescueismyfavoritebreed #voiceforthevoiceless #whywerescue #weeklyfluff #instadog #donatetoday #donate #dogsofnyc #foster #newyorkcity #rescuedogs #savethemall #stopabuse #seesomethingsaysomething
I DIED TODAY.
Maybe putting a face to this horror in our community will make a difference.
Both of these little dogs died today.
Neither one was sick or old.
They came to the shelter unwanted and scared.
They never got to experience what it was like to be loved as a family member.
They left today in a garbage bag.
Every day we get dozens and dozens of requests from people who don’t want their dogs anymore for whatever reason.
Dogs are being abandoned on the streets because people don’t want to pay an owner surrender fee at the pound.
The pounds are killing senselessly because there are no more kennels open as hundreds of homeless animals file in every day.
Taking in a dog is a COMMITMENT!
Life is going to change over the next 15 years, expect that before you get the dog.
Puppies grow up and get old and will cost money.
Dogs have personalities that are unique and individual needs just like people.
If you don’t want to deal with it, don’t get a dog.
If you move, don’t move to a place where you cannot take your dog. PERIOD.
There are plenty of places. It’s an excuse not a reason.
Do not make your responsibility somebody else’s problem.
When you do, it can result in another dog dying for space.
We usually try to keep this page positive and uplifting.
But today was devastating when we were an hour too late to save these two lives.
People have got to be aware of what is happening out there and what happens as a result of decisions they are making.
Lack of love kills.
