INCREDIBLY HEARTWARMING STORY OF DEVOTION

A BACKYARD DOGS LIFE …THE SAD REALIYY OF IRRESPONSIBLE OWNERS AND THE PETS THEY9 DUMP TO DIE

THIS IS A POST ON FACEBOOK FROM A CHAMPION FOR SHELTER PETS ..PLEASE READ GET YOUD KLEENEX YOU WILL NEED THEM !!

I often see very upsetting cases come into the rescue. Many actually, almost daily if I’m being honest. But once in awhile one comes in that just overwhelms me emotionally.
Chauncey was surrendered to us today. I asked his owner to tell me about him. His response was “well what’s there to tell”. I remember furrowing my brows and cocking my head like Huh?! Most owners are now in tears and telling me every little tidbit they can about their beloved pet they’re having to surrender. I said what does he like, does he sleep with you, good with kids, potty trained, etc. He said oh I don’t know he lives outside. I was then told he’s never EVER been allowed to step foot in a home his entire life. He’s been locked in a kennel outside “With a female” for the past 4 years. My stomach clenched. No wonder the poor dog was quivering head to toe. He’s never been indoors anywhere! He’s never seen a vet. He’s never ridden in a car, had a soft place to lay his head or experienced good old fashioned human love. The surrender form stated he had lived with this man since he was 8 weeks old. How f’ing sad is that.
An hour and a half trying to remove the billions of bugs and they’re still not gone.

Can’t get him to eat although he clearly was hungry repetitively army crawling to the food bowl we set out for him but never even retrieving one single piece out. It finally dawned on us, he doesn’t understand the food bowl. So that same food was thrown on the ground in front of him. He ate it in mere seconds. He only knows eating off the ground!
He’s going home with my friend Jamie Knocke tonight. He’s going step foot into a home for the first time. He’s going to feel human affection and love every day he’s being fostered with her. He’s never going to have to eat off of the ground outside ever again. He’s going to have the rest of his matting cut off although the owner clearly tried to hide the bad condition and ended up cutting him to the point of bleeding in many spots.
So he’s safe but now I can’t stop thinking of how the “female” is still there in that kennel in the backyard. For those of you who think breeders are all saints think again. The “cocker puppies” signs I’ve seen over the past few years not far my very own home are probably from this backyard breeder who charged $1,500 per puppy for purebreds when mom and dad were living shit lives.
I am going to go to the address on the surrender form. I’m going to try to educate and reason with them. I’m so thankful when they were done breeding him they contacted us I really am but I have to stop this insanity. I can’t do nothing now that I know this is happening and at least one more is there stuck in that damn backyard kennel being bred over and over. I have to try to help her and if that doesn’t work I will have no choice but to call in for a welfare check.
Wish our new boy Chauncey (which means fortunate one) good luck on his new venture as this is when his real life begins and his nightmare is finally over.
Thank you for listening. Sometimes if I don’t release it it will take me down emotionally and even sometimes physically and then I’m no good for any of them that need me. 💙🐾
